the mini-regional raffle is here!

Since 2001, Charger Robotics has hosted an annual fundraiser open to all FIRST teams and organizations across Wisconsin.  Teams put this money toward the cost of robot parts, transportation to competition events, staging demonstrations, and other operational expenses.

Raffle tickets can be purchased from any member of Charger Robotics, or any FIRST® LEGO® League Jr., FIRST® LEGO® League, FIRST® Tech Challenge, or FIRST Robotics Competition team participating in the raffle.  The drawing is held at the Charger Robotics Mini Regional, located at Sussex Hamilton High School.

raffle process for teams

The focus of this raffle has always been to provide Wisconsin FIRST teams with an opportunity to earn income.

With the expansion of athletics and extra-curricular activities at many local school districts, it can be difficult for teams to find unique fundraising opportunities without creating redundancy, overlap, or conflicts with other organizations in their community.

Restaurant fundraisers, individual donations, and corporate sponsorships only go so far, and our local communities are becoming saturated with Brat Frys, Car Washes, Bake Sales, Golf Outings, Kringle Sales, etc.

Who can Participate?

All FIRST teams (FLLjr, FLL, FTC, FRC) that are located in the state of Wisconsin are able to participate and sell tickets.

This is a fundraiser specific to our local programs that won't conflict with other extracurriculars.

Get Started

If you're a leader of your local FIRST organization and you'd like to participate in the raffle this year, here are five easy steps to follow:

  1. Contact Charger Robotics with interest to buy-in to the raffle.

  2. State how many tickets you would like.

    • Tickets come in batches of 100.

    • Raffle Buy-In costs $0.35 per ticket to cover ticket materials, printing, and prizes.

    • Historically, students sell 40 to 220 tickets each, depending on your individual team's ability.

    • Charger Robotics will provide you with an invoice and payment information.

  3. Charger Robotics provides you the raffle tickets.

    • We estimate ticket availability by November 11th, 2019.

    • Raffle tickets can not be mailed.  Charger Robotics will work with you to arrange a pick-up, drop-off, or meet-up.

  4. You sell the raffle tickets!

    • $3.00 per ticket, or $10.00 for four tickets

    • Your team keeps this money (86% to 88% profit)!

    • There is no refund for unsold tickets.

  5. Return ticket stubs to Charger Robotics by 11:00 AM, February 16th, 2020 (prior to the drawing).

    • The drawing occurs during the Charger Robotics Mini-Regional & Community Open House on February 16th, 2020.

    • Winners do not need to be present in order to win!

New for 2019-2020!!!

Some area teams are struggling to recruit mentors & volunteers to help keep their programs successful and impactful for the students involved.  Other teams are struggling to find space to work or practice.  Other teams are struggling financially.  In some communities, the average person might still not know what FIRST is.

To help resolve these issues we've decided to print additional information on the back of the tickets this year.

  • A short summary describing the FIRST organization

  • An illustration of the program progression from FLLjr. to FRC.

  • A call-to-action requesting support

This additional information is provided on the portion of the ticket that the purchaser keeps.  That way, it stays with them so that they can reference it in the future.  It also provides some quick talking points to help your students, mentors, and families sell the tickets.

We've started the process earlier to give teams more time to sell!

Historically, raffle tickets became available to teams right before the winter holiday break.  This gave most teams one family holiday and about 60 days to sell tickets before the drawing.  Additionally, some students rotate or alternate which side of the family they celebrate specific holidays with, meaning that they miss out on 50% of their selling opportunities.

We are on track to have tickets available to other teams by mid-November.  This gives teams nearly 100 days to sell tickets and multiple family holidays to increase their sales numbers (and your profits)!
