About the event

 Location Update

The location for the FTC Qualifier competition next weekend (12/14/2019) is Valders High School, not Kiel High School as originally indicated on the Field Trip Forms.  Team Website and Calendars have been updated to reflect this. Teams must enter through the main doors.  The check-in desk will be on the left side as you enter.  Teams must bring all equipment through the main doors to keep from contaminating the gym floors with salt.  Once checked in, teams will be shown to the pit area.

Pit Area

Each team will receive a 10' x 10' pit area with 1 table and a single power outlet.  Each team should bring their own power strip if necessary.  Please remember to bring your own safety glasses.  If you've somehow made it this far without receiving a pair of safety glasses - please see Dave Woods.

Judging Times

Teams will be interviewed for 15 minutes.  Per FIRST Rules, all teams are allowed to start their judging time with a five minute presentation.  This is not a requirement, but we did want to make teams aware of this.  If you do not have a presentation, you will simply be questioned for 15 minutes.

Lunch & Concessions

Concessions will be sold in the cafeteria (just outside the gym/competition area), starting with Coffee and Donuts in the morning, burgers for lunch, and snacks throughout the day.  There is also a subway about two minutes from the high school by car.    Lunch will be served from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. There is no food or drink allowed in the pit area.  The FTC matches will be displayed in the adjacent “cafetorium” to alleviate that temptation.

Robot Inspection

The robot inspection station will be open from 7:00 am to 10:30 am Saturday morning.  Please do not leave this until the last minute.

Items to Bring

Please remember to bring safety glasses for your team and for any parents or spectators you invited. Power will be supplied to each 10’ x 10’ pit area, but only a single outlet and the event does NOT have power strips (so you'll probably want to bring your own if the ones on your cart aren't sufficient).   Finally, remember to bring your gracious professionalism because we will have a number of teams that are working hard on their robots to finalize their programs or get that extra mechanism on.  Work with each other and help each other out, that is what FIRST is about – competing extremely hard but also making everyone around you better as well.
